AN ECONOMIC PLAN TO HELP YOUNG AMERICANS – PARTICULARLY YOUNG WOMEN
Working for Young Women: A Modern Agenda for Improving Millennial Women’s Lives
A Positive Conservative Agenda for Building a Stronger, Healthier Economy – and Securing a Better Future for Young Women
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Millions of young people face challenges and hardship today – from the financial burden of mounting student loan debt to the lack of job opportunities that will put them on the path to achieve long-term aspirations, making ends meet, and developing the skills they need to build their careers and plan their future.
The Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), the leading women’s organization focused on economic liberty, and Network of enlightened Women (NeW), the premier organization for conservative college women, are releasing a new report, Working for Young Women: A Modern Agenda for Improving Millennial Women’s Lives. The report presents a slate of policy reforms to create a fairer, more dynamic society with greater opportunity and freedom for young Americans to prosper. The report is an adapted version of IWF’s Working for Women: A Modern Agenda for Improving Women’s Lives, which was released earlier this year.
“The goal behind Working for Young Women is to highlight to Millennials how there are better policies that will provide them with more and better opportunities,” said IWF managing director Carrie Lukas. “Instead of creating top-down reforms or expanding government programs, policymakers need better policies that create the conditions for a growing economy that offers a variety of jobs, make life more affordable, and help young people get on sound financial footing so they can plan for the future.”
“This report offers students a different approach than what they normally hear on campus on everything from higher education reform to economic opportunities,” said NeW Founder Karin Agness. “These policies are about returning power to individuals and creating a more flexible, dynamic society.”
The report details 17 specific policy reforms that reign in excessive government, making education cheaper and more effective and creating a dynamic, flourishing economy. Most importantly, these policies return resources and control to individuals so that they can make decisions that work best for them.
