INDEPENDENT WOMEN’S FORUM ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP CHANGES

WASHINGTON, DC — Sabrina Schaeffer, executive director and co-president of Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) — a key voice on feminism, the workplace, and political culture — will resign at the end of this month, following the organization’s third annual Women LEAD Summit with newsmakers Camille Paglia and Senator Deb Fischer.

Sabrina served as executive director of IWF since January 2012, helping the group quickly extend its role as a prominent voice on issues facing women today.

"IWF appreciates the accomplishments and tremendous leadership of Sabrina as executive director,” said Heather R. Higgins, chairman of IWF’s board. “She helped IWF greatly expand our work and impact. She will be sorely missed and IWF thanks Sabrina for her many contributions. We wish her well in all future endeavors to advance the cause of liberty and better opportunities for Americans.”

IWF’s Board of Directors has appointed co-president and managing director, Carrie Lukas, to lead the organization as its President.

Lukas is the co-author of Liberty Is No War on Women, and the author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sex, and Feminism. She is also a contributor to Forbes.com, NRO, and Acculturated, fellow at the Goldwater Institute, and vice president for policy and economics at the Independent Women's Voice, IWF’s c4 sister organization.  Her writings have appeared in numerous publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, New York Times, and The New York Post. And she has testified before the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security.

Before joining IWF in 2003, Carrie worked at Cato as a social security analyst and on Capitol Hill as the senior domestic policy analyst for the House Republican Policy Committee.

“Carrie has built an impressive reputation for her work in public policy and American politics,” said Higgins. “I’m confident that she will be able to continue growing IWF and advancing our mission so that women have more choice and opportunity, and can live the American Dream."

Lukas received her B.A. from Princeton University and master's degree in public policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
