No, it's not a dime novel, it is the former Democratic presidential candidate speaking of the man who defeated her:

In today's new low in setting standards for the national discourse, defeated Democratic presidential candidate reveals in her new book that her opponent made her flesh crawl. I kid you not. This is the level of debate now. Here is the report from NBC News:

In the first excerpts from Hillary Clinton's highly anticipated upcoming memoir, the former Democratic presidential candidate said her "skin crawled" during a debate with Donald Trump.

In audio clips of Clinton reading from the book, "What Happened," which were first obtained by MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Wednesday, Clinton recounted her thoughts as she toyed with the idea of telling her Republican rival to "back up, you creep" as he stood behind her during the second presidential debate.

"My skin crawled," Clinton said. "It was one of those moments where you wish you could hit pause and ask everyone watching 'well, what would you do?'"

How is this any better than a Trump tweet?

Is this the utterance of a woman capable of upholding the dignity of the office of the president?

Is this any more dignified than the current occupant of the Oval Office?

President Trump is given to extremely unfortunate tweets and remarks, which supporters of his policies find embarrassing.

But I am betting Mrs. Clinton's remarks will be praised in some quarters, even though Clinton has indulged in language similar to the president.

This is a kind of behavior this country has never (at least in my memory) witnessed from a defeated presidential candidate.

And it does not bode well for the healing that is so badly needed.

Mrs. Clinton may try to justify this kind of talk by saying that her flesh crawled because Trump's tape of lecherous remarks had just come out.

Since Mrs. Clinton herself is no stranger to men who behave badly where women are concerned, I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that what really makes her mad is that she lost.

She lost in part because she manifested the same kind of disdain and lack of grace shown here to a very large percentage of the American public, whom she designated as "deplorables."

Just as President Trump sometimes embarrasses us, Mrs. Clinton's supporters should be embarrassed by this.

What are the odds?
