Count Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg as another person who can't move on from the 2016 presidential election. She believes that sexism defeated Hillary Clinton. The Hill reports:
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said that she has “no doubt” that sexism played a "major" part in the surprise results of the 2016 presidential election.
CBS’s Charlie Rose asked Ginsburg at an event Tuesday night if she thought sexism contributed to Hillary Clinton’s loss to President Trump in 2016.
“I have no doubt that it did,” she replied.
Ginsburg said that while there were many elements that led to Clinton’s loss, sexism “was a major, major factor.”
The justice, who described herself as a “flaming female litigator” last week, faced backlash last year for criticizing Trump while he was still a candidate.
To repeat what I said a blog item ago, when we took note of former first lady Michelle's condescending remark that women who voted against Hillary didn't know what is in their best interests, this is fails to recognize that Americans who didn't fall in line and vote as the Justice would have wanted them to were in general motivated by a combination of policies, issues, and a host of cultural considerations.
It denigrates our country to say that it is sexist and the charge is also untrue. Do you really know anybody who voted against Mrs. Clinton because she is a woman? The Democrats intuitively grasped this or they would not have made Mrs. Clinton's gender her key selling point. It just wasn't enough to pull her over the line.
