President Trump recently reduced the size of two national monuments in Utah, the Bear Ears National Monument and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Environmental activists are outraged and Patagonia is suing the Administration in response.
In reality, Trump's move is a typical one for Presidents to make — and ensures a monument complies with the terms of the Antiquities Act, which provides legal protection of cultural and natural resources in the United States. President John F. Kennedy did the same thing, but you won't hear Patagonia giving you any real facts about this case.
