Kristy Swanson:

I am so pleased and honored to be chosen as the first recipient of this Award.  I actually teared up when I was contacted and told that I was your choice.

I love our country so much.  I love our shared History. I’m very interested in learning about and highlighting the legacies of those who came before us, those who worked extremely hard and sacrificed so much to build…this City upon a Hill we call home…this ray of light… in what can be a very dark world.

I have so much respect for the men and women who fight every day to defend American values…values like free-speech, free markets, and self-reliance.

Those who protect our freedoms, do so, much of the time, alongside a great degree of personal sacrifice. They have counted the cost and they have earned our respect.  I am humbled to champion those on the frontlines, those in the shadows, and those who are found fighting for the good …in every trench in-between.

As an actor, I’ve had the privilege of playing many different roles in my life.  I can honestly say that it’s with great joy… that I embrace my true life role… as an American citizen and patriot.

I understand that preserving and advancing the ideals that make our country so special …so set apart…so worth fighting for…is a great responsibility.  I commit to using whatever platform I have, for as long as I have it, as an avenue to speak forth my beliefs and share my patriotic love for America.

All the personal attacks, ugly comments, and even threats…don’t overshadow all the kind, loving, and brave support I’ve been shown.  The women at The Independent Women’s Forum are an example for the rest of us to follow. They encourage and model civility…which lights the way for future generations.

I am so very humbled to be the recipient of this Resilience Award.  God bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep up the good work, Everyone!
