Independent Women’s Forum | Radio · What Does the Nomination of Kamala Harris Mean for the Democratic Party? • The Randy Tobler Show

Patrice Onwuka, senior policy analyst at the Independent Women’s Forum joins Randy to discuss the selection of Sen Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s running-mate.

Onwuka says there is a double standard when it comes to the Republicans and Democrats, “if this was a Republican ticket, and President Trump was saying, ‘well I gotta check the box on a woman and I gotta check a box on a minority,’ people would absolutely say, ‘wait a minute, isn’t it the best person who’s qualified for the job?’ That should be how you decide who you’re going to put on the ticket with you.”

The IWF Senior Policy Analyst says Sen Harrs, “is anything but a centrist or a moderate.” Onwuka says that Harris, “is farther to the left than 99-percent of the rest of her collegues. There’s only one person farther than she is.”

Onwuka says the pick wasn’t what she expected, “I was surprised that it wasn’t Susan Rice, although she brings baggage, into the attacks based on her record. She was closer to the Obama legacy.”
