Dear Senators,
Independent Women’s Forum, the leading national women’s organization dedicated to developing and advancing policies that aren’t just well-intended, but actually enhance people’s freedom, opportunities, and well-being, fully supports the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court of the United States. If confirmed, Judge Barrett would become the fifth woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
Like Justice Ginsburg before her, Judge Barrett is a respected teacher, scholar, lawyer, and jurist. It is true that Judge Barrett does not share the same judicial philosophy as Justice Ginsburg. But Justice Ginsburg looked forward to the day when there would be more women on the Supreme Court —women who were “not shaped from the same mold.”
Judge Barrett is a highly accomplished woman who has found a way to balance work and family life. As the mother of seven children who has managed to be an involved parent while maintaining a career, Judge Barrett is an inspiration to the many young women and girls who hope someday to have a family while balancing the demands of work.
Even more importantly, if confirmed, Judge Barrett will properly apply the Constitution and ensure equal justice for all under the law, as she herself has pledged.
IWF is proud to support the nomination of a highly accomplished woman like Judge Barrett to the highest court in the land. We urge Senators to provide Judge Barrett with a fair and respectful hearing and to confirm her to the Supreme Court of the United States.
