UPDATE: Lawmakers in Montana recently introduced the “Save Women’s Sports Act” (House Bill 112).
If passed and signed into law, HB 112 would establish that “sex” shall be determined on the basis of biological sex at birth, not gender identity, when it comes to public and college athletics in the state of Montana.
Lawmakers have introduced similar bills in a number of states, including: Mississippi, Utah, Georgia, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
Independent Women’s Voice, our sister organization, submitted a letter in support of HB 112, and is sending letters to other states where similar bills are being introduced.
It is important that these lawmakers know you’re standing with us as we fight to save women’s sports and demand fair play.

In the realm of athletics, biological sex differences matter. Without separate teams for women and men, men will dominate women in competitive sports where strength, size, or speed are relevant factors. That’s because, physiologically, the average male is stronger, bigger, and faster than the average female.
Women have fought long and hard for equal athletic opportunities. Allowing males to compete against females will hinder opportunities for women to succeed, take spots (and potential scholarships) away from women, and place women at risk of injury.
Protecting fair play is more important now than ever.
At the federal level, President Biden recently issued an executive order that jeopardizes the future of women’s sports, and may even place some women and girls in danger.
Legislation like HB 112 would be a big step towards protecting female athletes in our states.
