Farah served for three and a half years in the Trump administration, most recently as the White House Communications Director and Assistant to the President under Donald J. Trump.

During her tenure, she oversaw the messaging strategy for the White House and the federal Cabinet. Prior to joining the White House all-female senior communications team in April 2020, Farah served as Press Secretary for the Department of Defense and Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense.

During her tenure at the Pentagon, Farah accompanied the Secretary of Defense on key foreign travel including an unannounced visit to Afghanistan to announce peace talks between the Afghan Government and the Taliban. In her role she was the primary spokesperson for the Department to national and international press and the primary traveling spokesperson for the Secretary. She was also the senior advisor responsible for preparing the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for congressional hearings.

Farah began her tenure in the Trump administration as Press Secretary under former Vice President Mike Pence, where she accompanied him on dozens of international trips, serving as part of the official U.S. Delegation to the ASEAN Summit in Singapore, Munich Security Conference, the APEC CEO Summit in Papua New Guinea, and the Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East in Warsaw, Poland.

Farah, who is of Lebanese and Syrian descent, was the youngest Pentagon Press Secretary in history and the first person to serve in these three roles in one administration. She joined the administration after five years of experience on Capitol Hill, where she served as Senior Advisor and Communications Director for the House Freedom Caucus, working under both Chairmen Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Mark Meadows (R-NC). Farah graduated from Patrick Henry College with a degree in Journalism and Public Policy. She resides with her finance in Washington, D.C., where she runs her own consulting firm focusing on the corporate, political and defense realms in addition to serving as an IWF fellow.

IWF is proud to welcome Alyssa Farah to our team, where she will cover both foreign and domestic affairs.
