The Biden Administration plans to re-enter the failed Iran nuclear deal at a time when Iran continues to sew malign activity around the globe, most recently funding Hamas terrorists who engaged in 15 days of open hostilities against Israeli civilians.

Appearing on ABC’s This Week, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken revived the false Obama-era talking points claiming that lifting sanctions on Iran will force the regime to halt its nuclear pursuits. When in reality, it did exactly the opposite under President Obama, resulting in Iran enriching more uranium and putting them on a glidepath to have a nuclear weapon.

Blinken also conceded that Iran funds terrorist proxies, including Hamas, and acknowledged that it would likely continue under the revived Iran deal. The Obama Administration infamously did not require that Iran stop funding terror before releasing billions in sanctioned funds back to Tehran, and we could only expect Biden would repeat that.

False. Completely make believe.

We’ve seen this movie before and know how it ends. At the tail-end of the Obama/Biden Administration, a confidential report from the International Atomic Energy Agency found that under the Nuclear deal, Iran continued  to increase its stockpiles of enriched uranium, and violated every term of the deal. According to the report, Iran blatantly violated the terms of the deal, increasing its stockpiles to 1,571.6 kilograms (1.73 tons), up from 1,020.9 kilograms (1.1 tons).

Let’s not forget the very real consequences of Iran’s malign activity. Just over a year ago, Iranian-backed proxies attacked U.S. and coalition partners in Iraq at  the Al-Assad military base, launching ballistic missiles at Americans service-members that resulted in 110 people suffering traumatic brain injuries. Earlier this month, Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists killed 12 Israeli civilians and one Israeli soldier.

How could the Biden Administration morally justify lifting sanctions on Iran? President Biden knows they are bad actors. Under the Obama/Biden Administration, while the Iran Nuclear Deal was in place, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized two U.S. Navy boats, holding 10 Navy sailors hostage at gunpoint.

The Biden Administration wants to continue the failed Obama policy of blind faith toward Iran, somehow believing that releasing tens of billions of dollars will stop Iran from pursuing its single greatest military pursuit, and keep those dollars from ending up in terrorists’ hands.

The Trump Administration’s maximum pressure campaign on Iran has crippled Tehran’s ability to achieve a nuclear weapon and been praised by allies of the U.S. throughout the Middle East. When it comes to Iran, strength goes much further than blind faith.
