On the same day the Biden administration announced it would open the Canada and Mexico borders for fully vaccinated travelers in November, ending a 19-month pandemic travel ban, leaked Border Patrol documents reveal a glaring double standard in the administration’s COVID-19 vaccine policy.

“At least 160,000 illegal immigrants have been released into the U.S., often with little to no supervision, by the Biden administration since March,” reports Fox News, “including a broad use of limited parole authorities to make more than 30,000 eligible for work permits since August.”

For months, conservatives have sounded alarm over the record number of migrants illegally coming in from COVID hotspots across the world, potentially contributing to the spread of new and dangerous virus variations, such as the Delta, Lambda, and Mu strains. Despite issuing broad vaccine mandates for federal workers and private business with more than 100 employees, the policy never applied to those entering the country illegally.

On Sept. 20, when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about this loophole, she said illegal migrants didn’t need to comply because “they are not intending to stay.”

They are not intending to stay here for a lengthy period of time. I don’t think it’s the same thing. It is not the same thing.

However, the leaked documents make clear the Biden administration gave these migrants permission to stay in the U.S. for months with “notices to report.”

“Those who receive such a notice are only required to check in with an ICE office when they get to their final destination – which could be anywhere across the country. Those who check in are not deported or detained as their immigration proceedings move forward,” reports Fox News, adding:

Meanwhile, since Aug 6th, the administration has released roughly 32,000 immigrants into the U.S. via parole – which gives migrants a form of legal status and the ability to apply for work permits.

Certainly, Psaki had access to these documents, which suggests that all along, she knew that thousands of migrants who arrived unvaccinated and potentially COVID-19 positive intended to stay in the U.S. indefinitely. Skirting this fact enabled her and President Joe Biden to avoid answering a fundamental question: Why are the administration’s COVID-19 rules more stringent for U.S. citizens than those illegally entering our country from places with notoriously bad healthcare systems?

Now that we know that thousands of migrants are indeed here for a “lengthy period of time,” the question demands an answer.
