WASHINGTON, D.C. Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity at Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), will testify in front of the House Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial & Administrative Law at 1 p.m. ET tomorrow, May 17, on rebuilding American economic leadership.

The hearing, entitled “Reviving Competition, Part 6: Rebuilding America’s Economic Leadership and Combatting Corporate Profiteering,” will examine the impact that pandemic policies had on our economy and women’s participation in the workforce.

Onwuka, the only minority witness, will testify alongside majority witnesses: The Honorable Robert Reich, Carmel P. Friesen professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley; Rakeen Mabud, chief economist and managing director of policy and research at the Groundwork Collaborative; and Barry C. Lynn, executive director at Open Markets Institute.

In her testimony, Onwuka writes, “Women want solutions that will increase their purchasing power and allow them to enjoy their wage gains and flexibility. Congress should focus on solutions that actually increase the supply of goods and services and reduce elevated demand to tackle inflation in a meaningful way.”

Those solutions include:

  • Ramping up supply by raising labor force participation.
  • Reducing regulations on businesses.
  • Reducing import restrictions and encouraging oil drilling.
  • Avoiding increased fiscal spending on new entitlements.

Onwuka’s full testimony can be found HERE once the hearing begins.
