WASHINGTON, D.C.Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) spokeswoman Riley Gaines today issued the following statement in response to the decision by World Athletics to exclude biological men from women’s world ranking competitions:

“As a woman of sport, I sincerely thank World Athletics and Seb Coe for prioritizing fairness and integrity in sports over so-called ‘inclusion.’ Our mission and work to save women’s sports is nowhere near complete, but this decision is monumental and gives me hope for other sport-specific organizations.”

Gaines, 12x NCAA All-American swimmer and University of Kentucky graduate, famously tied biological male Lia Thomas in the 200-yard freestyle at the 2022 NCAA Division I Swimming Championships.
