A new report published by the Claremont Institute exposes Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the American school system. The Sex-Ed Industrial Complex, authored by researchers Anna K. Miller and Scott Yenor, outlines Planned Parenthood’s obsessive interest in the sexual education of young people as it acts as an influential force in setting the sexual education curriculum and related policy at the national level.

The report reveals that Planned Parenthood and its affiliates received 80% of sexual education-related funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, the federal agency responsible for funding four major programs related to sexual health: Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) and Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP), and two Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE). In total, these programs funded $228 million worth of sexual education grants for public schools between 2020 and 2023.

Planned Parenthood is by far the largest player in the grant process, as the report explains:

Seventy-nine percent of successful programs used Planned Parenthood-endorsed curricula. Planned Parenthood and its affiliates won 86 percent of TPP funds, 90 percent of PREP funds, and about three-quarters of SRAE funds.

How does Planned Parenthood receive so much funding? It’s because they are the ones who created the standards that dictate the funding and are involved every step of the way. The National Sexuality Education Standards (NSES) was developed by Planned Parenthood and its affiliates. It pairs with the Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT), also developed by Planned Parenthood and its affiliates.

As you might imagine, the standards set by Planned Parenthood for children are far from age-appropriate:

The second edition of NSES, published in 2020, requires teaching gender identity to kindergarteners and puberty blockers to third graders. NSES also requires teaching about abstinence — but it is the new abstinence, which allows for vaginal sex in the backseat of the car so long as one uses a condom. Almost half of America’s school districts have adopted Planned Parenthood’s sex education standards as curricula.

There are countless egregious examples of the ugly effects of Planned Parenthood’s near monopoly on sexual education in the U.S. The Daily Signal reported on a recent example that surfaced in Norfolk, Virginia Public Schools titled “Get Real: Comprehensive Sex Education That Works.”

As the Daily Signal notes, this guide—sponsored by Planned Parenthood—suggests sterilization as a form of birth control for 11- to 13-year-olds:

It also encourages teachers to assess student’s ability to role-play in the classroom:

Role-plays allow for cognitive and behavioral rehearsal of communication and refusal skills during difficult situations. The following simple checklist may be used to assess student performance in role-plays. Teachers are encouraged to share these criteria with students so they understand how they will be evaluated in the performance of the various role-plays.

As the largest abortion provider, the second largest provider of cross-sex hormones, and now the primary sexual health educator in the country, its damaging influence on the current and future generations is incalculable.

Eugenics and white supremacy inspired the organization in its earliest days, and today they are inspired by radical gender ideology. To protect the innocence of children, Planned Parenthood’s influence must be reined in and squashed as much as possible. Congress, which holds the power of the purse, must defund these dangerous and radical sexual education programs immediately.
