WASHINGTON, D.C. — Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) today announced Carrie Sheffield, senior policy analyst for the Center for Economic Opportunity at IWF, will testify before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability at 2:00 p.m. ET today, September 19, on best policies to address the economic devastation caused by Bidenomics.

The Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs hearing, titled, “Bidenomics: A Perfect Storm of Spending, Debt, and Inflation,” will examine how policymakers can reverse the ill effects of Bidenomics that are already hammering communities and homes nationwide.

In her testimony, Sheffield writes, in part, “The perfect storm of Bidenomics is a man-made one, through an unsustainable combination of spending, debt, and inflation. But this storm is reversible through quick action. The government serves a critical role in ensuring that it does not squelch the American Dream through heavy-handed, costly, and opportunity-killing debt; spending; regulations; or fraudulent and ineffective programs.”

Specific areas of concern that Sheffield will focus on in her testimony include:

  • America’s binge spending which has triggered more inflation, eroding wages, and buying power;
  • America’s ticking debt bomb and unsustainable public debt interest payments that will crowd out important public expenditures for other discretionary needs; and
  • America’s lack of confidence in our political leaders and institutions.

During her testimony, Sheffield will highlight the need for Congress to:

  • Unleash domestic energy supplies;
  • Cut the red tape that burdens small businesses;
  • Rein in out-of-control federal regulators;
  • Protect independent contracting from sweeping reclassification;
  • Embrace tax reform that preserves America’s global competitiveness; and
  • Adopt a balanced budget amendment.

“The American people know exactly what Bidenomics is: reckless spending, anti-American energy policies, sweeping regulations, soaring inflation, and shrinking wages. We need to do away with Bidenomics and grow the economy for the long-term by putting the brakes on Democrats’ spending and ending the Biden avalanche of burdensome regulatory reforms. I look forward to having a conversation about Republican solutions to get us back on track before President Biden continues to damage America’s fiscal and national security with Bidenomics,” said Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Chairman Pat Fallon (R-TX).

Sheffield concludes her written testimony stating, in part: “Congress can act to help slow the ill effects of Bidenmomics through a return to the economic principles that built America’s extraordinary economic engine: fiscal prudence, competition, and regulation that enhances rather than undermines fair competition and growth.”
