SANTA FE, NM — Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) is calling attention to the one-year anniversary of the ill-conceived “Reproductive and Gender Affirming Health Care Act” (HB 7) going into effect in New Mexico state law on June 16. This dangerous legislation—which could criminalize individuals who try to interfere with a minor’s attempt to medically “transition”—promotes the irreversible medicalization of American children under the guise of “gender-affirming” care, and must be reversed.

IWF ambassador and detransitioner Prisha Mosley said, “Starting when I was 16 years old, and continuing into my teen and young adult years, doctors and counselors set me on a path of medicalized ‘gender transition.’ I trusted these healthcare providers to take care of me and my delicate mental health situation at a time in which I could not take care of myself. Years later, I realized that I had been lied to and misled in the worst possible way. Instead of receiving the mental health care I needed, my mental health conditions worsened, and I lost my physical health, too. After detransitioning, I can say first-hand that laws like the so-called ‘Reproductive and Gender Affirming Health Care Act’ are life-threatening and dangerously misinformed. It is never kind or loving to lie, not even to someone sick enough to thank you while you do it.”

The New Mexico law allows for the destruction of children’s health and futures before they can even give informed consent.

A growing momentum of individuals from within the medical industry are exposing the painful, life-altering impacts of gender ideology. This month, concerned doctors of the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds), along with medical professionals from across the United States, signed a declaration calling on prominent American medical institutions to halt the harmful surgery and puberty blocker interventions on children struggling with gender dysphoria.

Leaked documents from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)—the leading global medical organization for gender “transition”—also expose the dangers of allowing vulnerable children to commit irreversible damage to their otherwise healthy bodies.

On June 16, 2024, on the one-year anniversary of “The Reproductive and Gender Affirming Health Care Act” taking effect, IWF is calling on New Mexico to answer for what this act promotes and reverse its devastating impact on New Mexico’s children and families.

As more individuals come to experience the harms of the gender ideology movement first-hand, the stories of detransitioners like Prisha Mosley, parents, and experts are impossible to ignore. While much of the media continues to block them out, Independent Women’s Forum is giving them a voice. Watch, learn, and share HERE.
