WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, on the two-year anniversary of the more aptly named Inflation “Creation” Act passed with Vice President Kamala Harris’s tie-breaking vote, Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) and Independent Women’s Law Center (IWLC) calls foul on Harris’s claim that the Biden-Harris administration agenda lowers prescription drug prices. The administration’s price-fixing scheme instead permits a government takeover of the U.S. pharmaceutical industry and inhibits innovation for life-saving care. IWLC has filed an amicus brief in a challenge to the Inflation Creation Act’s price-fixing regime, which strips companies of their products in direct violation of the Fifth Amendment.
May Mailman, Independent Women’s Law Center director, said, “Kamala Harris has enacted an unprecedented and unconstitutional regime of involuntary price controls that, in the words of the pharmaceutical makers themselves, ‘will deprive millions of Americans of life-saving and life-enhancing drugs.’ IWLC is fighting this injurious regime in court, because we want to continue America’s incredible march toward prosperity and an increased quality of life.”
