Onwuka’s full testimony can be found HERE once the hearing begins.

WASHINGTON, D.C.Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) today announced that Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity at IWF, will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, & Grid Security on the economic repercussions of the Biden-Harris energy agenda at 10:00 a.m. ET on September 11.

The hearing, titled, “From Gas to Groceries: Americans Pay the Price of the Biden-Harris Energy Agenda,” examines how the Biden-Harris administration’s energy agenda has hurt American households and businesses.

In her testimony, Onwuka writes, in part, “Energy is the lifeblood of commerce and society in our nation. Everything grown, manufactured, produced, packaged, and transported depends on energy. As energy prices rise, consumers are forced to pay more for the goods and services they depend on.”

Onwuka will highlight:

  • How today’s inflation and elevated prices are the consequences of unsustainable federal spending and burdensome regulations on energy;
  • Why American households and small businesses are acutely sensitive to changes in prices for a gallon of gas or monthly utility bills; and
  • How rising energy costs disproportionately affect poor and working-class families.

During her testimony, Onwuka will call upon Congress to:

  • Clawback unspent funding from the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act to defund the spending agendas that fuel inflation;
  • Reverse regulatory burdens imposed by the Biden-Harris administration’s green climate agenda on appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, clothes washers, ceiling fans, dishwashers, and water heaters to save households and businesses from costly expenditures they can’t afford; and
  • Undo regulatory burdens on the energy industry that restrict energy production, supply, and innovation.

“Clean, affordable, and reliable energy is foundational to the continued prosperity of the American people. Yet, the Biden-Harris administration’s radical, rush-to-green agenda has undermined our energy security, leading to years of out-of-control inflation and higher prices on everything from food to housing to vehicles and more,” said House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Subcommittee Chair Jeff Duncan (R-SC). “Energy and Commerce Republicans are leading to expose the consequences of those harmful policies and to advance policies that unleash American energy.”
