Onwuka’s full testimony can be found HERE once the hearing begins.

WASHINGTON, D.C.Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) today announced that Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity at IWF, will testify before the U.S. House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs on the high cost of living for American households under the Biden-Harris administration’s economic and energy agenda.

The hearing, titled, “Kitchen Table Economics: How Failed Biden-Harris Policies Continue to Hurt Consumers,” will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on September 25.

In her testimony, Onwuka writes, in part: “The media and Biden-Harris administration seek to gaslight Americans about the state of the economy. They insist that their hardships are exaggerated and that they should feel ‘joy.’ But there is no joy in tittering on the brink of financial ruin. There is no joy in worrying that if you lose this job, you may never find one again.  There is no joy in struggling to keep up with rising rent and heating bills.”

Onwuka will address:

  • How persistently elevated prices affect all families and businesses but disproportionately burden low-income, senior, minority, and rural households;
  • How federal policy under the Biden-Harris administration has undermined domestic energy production; and
  • Why myths pedaled by the administration such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, supply chain disruptions, or company price gouging are not the cause of today’s inflation, but rather unsustainable federal spending and burdensome regulations.

During her testimony, Onwuka will call upon Congress to:

  • Deregulate the housing industry, including land use and building and permitting processes, to increase housing supply and decrease high housing costs;
  • Repeal regulations that needlessly restrict energy production, supply, and innovation; and
  • Halt the implementation of costly mandates on vehicles and households and exercise spending restraint to prevent a fresh round of inflationary pressures.
