WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, on Veterans Day, Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) and IWF’s Center for American Safety and Security (CASS) honor all those who have served the nation in uniform and call on policymakers to honor America’s military veterans by returning to policies that prioritize our military strength.

Meaghan Mobbs, director of IWF’s Center for American Safety and Security and former paratrooper and combat veteran, issued the following statement:

“My father was in the Pentagon on 9/11, and I still remember the emotions of that day as if it were yesterday. That moment propelled me to West Point and eventually to serve in Afghanistan. I am immensely proud of my time in uniform, and it’s deepened my conviction that we must do all we can to ensure that America has the most capable and lethal fighting force the world has ever known.

“The best way to honor America and its veterans is to return to policies that prioritize the core function of our military—to fight and win our nation’s wars. Focusing on readiness, capability, and the critical task of defending our nation is the strongest expression of gratitude we can show to those who served and continue to serve under our flag.

“This election wasn’t just about policies on the economy or border security; it was about competing narratives of the provenance of our country and what we believe in as Americans—about our country’s past, and just as importantly, our future. America is the greatest country on earth, and it’s time to fully embrace that fact rather than run from it or lament our strength.

“This Veterans Day is an opportunity to reignite our love for America and honor those who have served under her flag. It’s more than a day of thanks—it’s a renewed commitment to ensure that America remains the ‘land of the free and home of the brave.”

The Center for American Safety and Security continues to advocate for policies that advance our military readiness and national security. In September, Meaghan Mobbs testified before U.S. Congress on the consequences of the Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy, including the catastrophic and deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan that left eleven Marines, a soldier, and a Navy corpsman dead. CASS has also developed a comprehensive policy focus to help lawmakers address America’s ongoing military recruitment crisis.
