WASHINGTON D.C. — As the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) begins its search for a new commissioner to succeed Mollie Marcoux Samaan in 2025, Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) ambassadors and professional golfers Lauren Miller, Hannah Arnold, Dana Fall, and Amy Olson—who have been leading the call for the LPGA, the leading women’s professional golf organization, to keep women’s golf female—look forward to working with LPGA Interim Commissioner Liz Moore on preserving the integrity of women’s golf and urge the LPGA to select a permanent commissioner who will prioritize equal opportunity for female golfers.
This fall, Miller, Fall, Arnold, and Olson joined hundreds of female professional golfers in signing a letter to LPGA Commissioner Marcoux Samaan and the LPGA executive leadership team, demanding officials to acknowledge the male athletic advantage over women and amend the participation rules to prohibit men from qualifying, competing, and winning in women’s golf.
The growing movement of female professional golfers say the LPGA participation rules are unfair and discriminatory and must revert to reflecting single-sex competition — XX only.
On the heels of this letter, Miller, Fall, Arnold, and Olson joined IWF as ambassadors to build awareness and help activate a global letter campaign that equips the public to send personalized letters to the LPGA to demand the end of participation policies that erase equal opportunity and the spirit of women’s professional golf.
Miller, Fall, Arnold, and Olson are calling upon the LPGA to establish policies that enforce participation in women’s golf based on sex in “Tee Time: Keep Women’s Golf Female,” an exclusive docu-series produced by IW Features, the grassroots storytelling and original journalism arm of IWF. The ongoing series features stories from female golfers who have been forced to share the course with and compete against male golfers in the women’s division.
“My hope is the next LPGA commissioner has the courage and boldness to do what is best for not only its current members but the future of women’s golf through emphasizing fairness by keeping women’s golf female!” said IWF Ambassador and current pro-golfer Lauren Miller.
“We need leadership who emphasizes player first and tour second. Naturally it’s the ladies professional golf tour for a reason. It’s our responsibility to hold leadership accountable to the players. I’m hoping the tour leads with a player first mentality going forward,” said IWF ambassador and current pro-golfer Hannah Arnold.
“Mollie has been a fierce advocate for increasing pay for LPGA players. One of the most crucial issues the next leader will need to provide clarity on is what the “L” in LPGA means,” said IWF ambassador and retired pro-golfer Amy Olson.
