Officially created on January 20, 2025, the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, has wasted no time finding unbelievable things your tax dollars have funded. (Pun intended.)
In the last month, the department, overseen by tech billionaire and X owner Elon Musk, has uncovered waste, potential fraud, and even shut down the United States Department of International Aid, or USAID.
While leftists clutch their pearls at the thought of losing funding for their pet projects regarding the USAID shutdown, the White House stood firm, issuing a fact sheet stating:
“For decades, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been unaccountable to taxpayers as it funnels massive sums of money to the ridiculous — and, in many cases, malicious — pet projects of entrenched bureaucrats, with next-to-no oversight.”
The examples of waste and abuse are astounding. Here’s a short list:
- $10 million for circumcisions in Mozambique
- $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt
- $2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam
- $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala
- $1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities”
- $230,000 for “Brazilian Forest and Gender Consultant”
- $70,000 for production of a “DEI musical” in Ireland
- $47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia
- $32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru
- “Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria”
As Americans recover from the last four years of “Bidenomics,” here’s to uncovering—and returning—more of their hard-earned tax dollars.
The priorities of these projects are questionable, but the national fiscal impacts are undeniable. Millions of dollars stack to billions of dollars and billions stack up to trillions.
As we first reported last November, DOGE set a high goal of cutting $2 trillion from the federal budget. They are well on their way.
DOGE is bringing our federal fiscal house into order and making good on a promise that conservatives (and some liberals) have perennially made but never attempted.
