Mobbs’ full testimony can be found HERE once the hearing begins.

WASHINGTON, D.C.Independent Women today announced that Meaghan Mobbs, director of the Center for American Safety and Security at Independent Women’s Forum, will testify before the U.S. House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on Military and Foreign Affairs on the future of U.S. foreign aid and the indispensable role of soft power in securing American interests.

The hearing, titled, “Emerging Global Threats: Putting America’s National Security First,” will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, February 25.

In her testimony, Mobbs writes, in part: “Our military must remain unmatched, but our ideals, when projected wisely, are our greatest strength. We must rebuild the credibility of American soft power, not as a vanity project for Washington elites, but as a weapon in defense of our nation and the free world.”

Mobbs will address:

  • The importance of American soft power as a weapon that, when wielded correctly, can shape the battlefield before a single shot is fired;
  • How USAID has drifted from its original mission of promoting American soft power, becoming a racket for socially progressive engineering projects while losing the trust of Americans; and
  • Why the U.S. retreat from soft power will embolden China and Russia to step in and entrench their influence, eroding the strength of the free world.

During her testimony, Mobbs will call upon congress to:

  • End the contractor class among the development-industrial complex;
  • Link every foreign aid dollar to strategy and ensure that all programs advance U.S. national security interests;
  • Cut funding for failed or ineffective programs;
  • Export strength, not ideology, promoting economic opportunity, personal liberty, and the rule of law; and
  • Rebuild trust with the American people and maintain transparency about the purpose and effectiveness of foreign aid programs.
