WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Independent Women and Independent Women’s Center for Economic Opportunity applaud Speaker Mike Johson, House Republican Leadership, and the conference for passing a budget resolution as the first step in delivering on President Donald Trump’s promised tax cuts.
Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity at Independent Women, issued the following statement:
We applaud Speaker Mike Johson, House Republican Leadership, and the conference for passing this budget resolution, the first step in delivering on President Trump’s promise of tax cuts for hardworking Americans. Average taxpayers face a 22% tax hike while 26 million small businesses, a significant proportion of which are women-owned, will see taxes jump to 43.4% if Congress does not make the tax cuts permanent. The Republican economic agenda will enable households, incentivize businesses to reinvest in worker pay and benefits, and spur greater growth to attack our debt. Every member of Congress should make passing this budget resolution their top priority.
