President Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises and delivering results for the American people. When it comes to the U.S. Department of Education, it is no different. Whether dramatically reducing, dismantling, or completely eliminating the department, the president will be good to his word, and work towards that end is already underway.

While just 50 days in office thus far, the president has assembled a team that will get rid of the massive federal bureaucracy that is not improving education for children.

Keep in mind that the U.S. Department of Education was created in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter to pay back the largest teachers union, the National Education Association, for their help in getting him elected.

Since the U.S. Department of Education’s inception 46 years ago, student learning results in our nation have not improved. This is despite a staff topping 4,400 employees and spending billions of dollars each year. Instead, the net effect has been endless federal regulations imposed onto states and the fueling of radical ideologies that are detrimental to children, spanning from gender identity to critical race theory and an anti-American worldview.

The Trump administration has been hard at work identifying and removing those ideologies from the U.S. Department of Education. As one example, harmful diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are being eliminated. Within a few days of the president taking office, “The agency said staff leading DEI initiatives have been placed on administrative leave, and over 200 web pages with DEI resources that ‘promote or endorse harmful ideological programs’ have been deleted. It also killed over $2.5 million of DEI contracts.”

It’s time to eliminate the ineffective and astronomically expensive bureaucracy, return education to the states, and empower parents with education options for their children. Thankfully, the Trump administration is working intently to make that happen.
