WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Independent Women will join President Donald J. Trump for a special White House event to commemorate Women’s History Month, celebrate how women have helped shape the fabric of America, champion the women of the President’s cabinet and at the highest levels of government, and applaud the wave of pro-woman policies advanced and enacted under the current Trump administration, including executive orders to define ‘woman’ and protect women’s sports.
In attendance alongside President Trump, women in his administration, and women leaders in Congress will be Heather R. Higgins, CEO of Independent Women’s Voice and Carrie Lukas, President of Independent Women’s Forum.
Heather R. Higgins said, “The worst lie told by the Left was biological sex was the same as gender identity, and something one can choose and change. It is a lie that undermines reality, and if you can persuade people of that, you can persuade them of anything. We are here to celebrate and thank the Trump administration for restoring and honoring reality and truth, and protecting women’s spaces and opportunities. We affirm that biological sex is not the same as gender identity, that being equal before the law does not mean being identical, and that there are real and important differences between women and men.”
Carrie Lukas said, “2025 has already been a historic year for American women. After years of watching our country and the very concept of women erode, finally, we have a president and an administration that is restoring single-sex protections and common sense. You cannot have laws that protect women from discrimination and even celebrate women’s history if we don’t have a common understanding of the word ‘woman’. I’m grateful that President Trump took action to restore the concept of women on day one of his presidency and that he is continuing to work to ensure women have better opportunities and get to live in a safer, freer country.”

President Trump has recognized the invaluable contributions of Independent Women policy experts, appointing them to key roles within his administration. These include May Mailman, former director of Independent Women’s Law Center, who now serves as Deputy Assistant to the President and a Senior Policy Strategist at the White House, and Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, who was recently reappointed by President Trump to the Board of Visitors for West Point.

Independent Women has partnered with the Trump administration to champion the preeminent civil rights issue of our time: protecting women’s single-sex spaces. This year, Independent Women has gained attention as the original architect of President Trump’s day-one executive order to define ‘woman,’ and a key voice behind his Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports Executive Order.
In his first Joint Session Presidential Address to Congress, President Trump recognized Independent Women Ambassador Payton McNabb as a leading women’s sports advocate turning tragedy into triumph after she suffered a devastating injury caused by a trans-identifying male athlete on an opposing women’s volleyball team.

President Trump continues to surround himself with women who are committed to restoring and protecting America’s strength and freedoms and promoting American values. Leaders such as White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard,
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, U.N. Ambassador Elise Stefanik, and numerous others serving as exemplary figures within his administration, advancing the pro-woman agenda with passion and dedication.
