WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women celebrates a massive legal victory for President Trump and the American people. The Supreme Court of the United States issued a landmark ruling late Monday, allowing the Trump administration to resume their deportations of criminal illegal aliens to El Salvador.
In a 5-4 ruling, the Court held that the administration’s policy of deporting criminals convicted of serious crimes in the U.S. is within the bounds of U.S. immigration law. The decision has major implications for future deportation cases and sets a precedent for how the government can enforce immigration laws to deport illegals with criminal backgrounds and those convicted of violent offenses.
The case arose from a lawsuit filed by left-wing organizations, challenging the legality of the President’s directive and authority to deport violent criminals. SCOTUS sided with President Trump and reaffirmed the executive’s authority on using the Alien Enemies Act to deport terrorists out of the U.S.
Beth Parlato, senior legal advisor for Independent Women’s Law Center, said, “This ruling enables President Trump’s efforts to restore the rule of law and make America safe again. Activist, partisan judges have no place in the judiciary, and I am thankful the Supreme Court has made it clear the president has the authority to make national security decisions in the protection of our country. This is a monumental victory for the president, the rule of law, and the constitution.”
The Court further acknowledged that the lawsuit was brought in the wrong jurisdiction: Texas is the correct court, not D.C. This is further evidence of the left’s attempt to thwart President Trump’s policy agenda by “forum” shopping to get the case in front of a judge who will put politics before the law. District Court Judge James Boasberg legally should have moved the case to the correct jurisdiction in Texas, but instead, used his power to illegally interfere with the President’s ability to protect the nation.
“It is about time to reign in these activist judges. The SCOTUS ruling protects the powers of the President to fulfill his obligation to the American people to make our country safe,” said Parlato.
