WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women, a leading national women’s organization dedicated to advancing policies that enhance opportunity and well-being, applauds President Trump’s budget proposal and his commitment to reign in government spending to relieve American taxpayers.

Gabriella Hoffman, director of the Center for Energy and Conservation at Independent Women, said:

“Independent Women Center for Energy and Conservation applauds President Trump’s “skinny budget” proposing over $20B in cuts to wasteful green and environmental, social, and governance spending. Spending your way to a clean environment is a fool’s errand. Unfettered government spending for net-zero climate programs is rife with abuse, waste, and fraud – with little to no dent on emissions. These programs are costly and only benefit a few radical environmental groups, not the American people. Ultimately, these initiatives did little for justice and promoting clean air, water, and lands. The president’s budget is a good first step to developing and promoting reliable, abundant, and secure energy sources without harming conservation efforts.”

Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity at Independent Women, said:

“President Trump’s “skinny” budget sets a tone of real fiscal restraint in Washington, not just lip service. He’s tightening the nation’s belt and refocusing the federal government on core functions of national security and economic growth. These proposed reductions complement the savings and bureaucratic reforms identified by DOGE.”

“Our social safety net programs are ripe for abuse and fraud that rob resources from those who truly need assistance. Meanwhile, federal agencies have grown bloated by programs with ideological agendas that undermine our social cohesion. Policymakers on both sides of the political aisle have called for spending restraint for decades. President Trump has charted a pathway to get there.”

Meaghan Mobbs, director of the Center for American Safety and Security at Independent Women, said:

“The Center for American Safety and Security at Independent Women commends President Donald J. Trump’s proposed “Skinny Budget” for its clear-eyed prioritization of America’s safety, sovereignty, and service to those who have served. By eliminating over 40 DOJ grant programs that funded fringe ideological agendas—such as trainings on “toxic masculinity” and third-gender advocacy—the budget rightly refocuses the Department of Justice on its core mission: reducing violent crime and getting FBI agents back into the field. At the border, it empowers a long-overdue mass removal campaign, investing in advanced technology, detention capacity, and manpower while cutting off taxpayer funding to NGOs that have facilitated illegal migration under the guise of humanitarian aid. Simultaneously, it delivers real results for our veterans, including historic funding to combat homelessness and expanded access to local healthcare options—ensuring those who serve this country receive the world-class care they deserve. This budget rejects bureaucratic bloat and progressive distractions in favor of a disciplined, security-first approach that puts the safety and sovereignty of the American people front and center.”
