WASHINGTON, D.C. – For National Police Week, Independent Women applauds law enforcement professionals who keep our communities safe and secure following President Trump’s recent executive orders to strengthen and protect state and local law enforcement.

Meaghan Mobbs, director of the Center for American Safety and Security at Independent Women, said: “In honor of National Police Week, the Center for American Safety and Security is deeply encouraged by the Administration’s steadfast commitment to our nation’s law enforcement officers. This week serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who wear the badge, and it’s heartening to see the Administration taking concrete steps to bolster their efforts.”

The Vice President yesterday hosted a breakfast at his residence with members of state and local law enforcement, fostering a spirit of unity and appreciation. Today, he will address the 44th annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol to underscore the Administration’s dedication to honoring fallen officers and supporting their families.

President Trump’s recent executive order, ‘Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens,’ underscores a comprehensive approach to public safety. Key initiatives include:

  • Providing legal resources and indemnification for officers facing unjust legal expenses from official duties, including pro bono assistance;
  • Maximizing federal resources to improve training, increase officer pay and benefits, and strengthen legal protections;
  • Seeking tougher sentences for crimes against officers and enhancing prison security and capacity;
  • Increasing the provision of surplus military assets to support local law enforcement and evaluating their use in crime prevention; and
  • Utilizing Homeland Security Task Forces to advance federal and local coordination.

Mobbs continued: “These measures reflect a deep understanding of the challenges faced by law enforcement and a commitment to ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to protect our communities effectively.

“As we commemorate National Police Week, let us honor the dedication and bravery of our law enforcement officers. The Administration’s proactive stance not only acknowledges their invaluable service but also reinforces the principle that public safety is paramount.”
