WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women issued the following statement condemning the fatal attack on two Israeli embassy staff members as they were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night:
Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:
“We are devastated by the murder of two young Israeli embassy staff outside the Capital Jewish Museum last night. They were more than diplomats. They were two people in love, building a life together, with everything ahead of them. That future was taken from them by hate.
“This was not a random act of violence. It is part of a growing pattern. Antisemitism is rising in America, and too many have looked the other way. We’ve seen what is happening on our college campuses – calls for the eradication of Israel, chants that glorify terror, and movements that dehumanize Jewish people have become disturbingly normalized.
“This is what happens when hate is left unchallenged. When antisemitism is allowed to fester, it doesn’t just stay online or in lecture halls. It becomes real. It becomes violent.
“There is no place for antisemitism in the United States. None. And those who promote, excuse, or enable it must be held to account.
“We mourn these lives cut short. We stand with the Jewish community, with the Israeli people, and with all who refuse to let hatred define our future. We must say clearly and unequivocally: Never again.”
Ellie Cohanim, Senior Fellow at Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:
“When the UN engages in Blood Libel against Israel, when the media spread lies about a fake famine in Gaza, when Macron, Starmer & Carney side with the terrorists; when universities become breeding grounds for Jew-hate; when Democrats allow pro-terror and antisemitic mobs to run amok on our cities—it was inevitable that Jewish blood would spill.”
Dr. Qanta Ahmed, Senior Fellow at Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:
“The brutal murder of two Israeli diplomatic staff in Washington DC at an iconic Jewish Museum represents lethal genocidal Islamist antisemitism which post October 7 has become mainstream in the United States.
“An attack on the Jewish community in America is an attack on all of America. As an observing Muslim that has been combating Islamist antisemitism for decades I recognize this ideology LETHALLY threatens all of us.
“It is time that the extremely dangerous radical ‘free Palestine protesters’ are recognized for their lethal Militancy- when they say ‘from the river to the sea’, or when they say ‘free Palestine’, they are calling for the eradication of the Jewish people with genocidal violence. This is what they mean by “globalize the intifada’ – they are seeking to ignite this in the United States and take Jewish American lives in the process .
“This movement has to be addressed as Islamist terrorism. I join my colleagues at the Independent Women’s Forum in condolences for the families of the victims and the grief of America’s Jewish community.”
