WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women, a leading national women’s organization dedicated to advancing policies that enhance opportunity and well-being, released the following statement praising legislation signed today by President Trump that will eliminate California’s electric vehicle sales mandates and diesel engine rules.
Gabriella Hoffman, director of Independent Women’s Center for Energy and Conservation, said:
“Independent Women’s Center for Energy and Conservation applauds President Trump for signing a Congressional resolution of disapproval revoking California’s electric vehicle (EV) mandate and restoring consumer choices. The Biden-Harris EPA allowed the Golden State to set strict, unreasonable vehicular emissions standards that mandated all new cars sold by 2035 be electric. 17 states and the District of Columbia adopted these extreme measures, even though their constituents oppose EV mandates.
“Americans aren’t sold on the supposed benefits of going electric. Their concerns about charging times, limited driving range, and alternatives potentially being worse for the environment are totally warranted.
“Only 1.4% of cars on the road today are electric. Americans still largely prefer gas-powered cars over EVs and hybrids. You can still care about the environment without sacrificing your car in the name of fighting climate change.
“Independent Women applauds the Trump administration for taking action today to repeal this deeply flawed rule.”
