SANTA FE, NM — Today, Independent Women Vice President for Communications Victoria Coley released the following statement to correct the record on the company’s Her Game. Her Legacy. Celebration of Title IX event happening tomorrow in Santa Fe, New Mexico:

Her Game. Her Legacy. is full speed ahead. This joyful celebration for girls in sports commemorating the 53rd Anniversary of Title IX and the kickoff of National Women’s Sports Week is happening as planned—Monday, June 23 at the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Pavilion. Independent Women has clearly and thoroughly communicated all event details and security accommodations to the venue staff. Nothing has changed—except for the excitement building. Women and girls deserve this moment.

Tomorrow, we are thrilled to welcome hundreds of young girls, female athletes, teammates, coaches, and families. The high-energy event is part gameday, part celebration—and all about honoring the power, talent, and tenacity of girls and women in sports.

Attendees can expect an afternoon filled with interactive games—including sack toss, foosball, soccer shot and basketball hoops—as well as face painting, a pink carpet moment for female athletes of all ages, and tons of free goodies (hats, pom poms, sunglasses, friendship bracelets, tote bags, tshirts, commemorative event badges and medallions).

Our short program will feature a “Step into Your Power” flow state warm up session and brief remarks from New Mexican athletes and parents.

Reports in the media and online are fundamentally false and defamatory, and appear designed to sabotage a joyful, pro-girl, pro-woman community celebration. It’s unfortunate—but telling—that some would rather spread false information than support young women chasing their dreams.

Independent Women is rooted in respect and dignity for all people. We believe in both standing proudly with women and equality. It isn’t anti-anyone to be pro-woman.
