Education freedom funds students, holds schools accountable by giving parents leverage, and creates opportunity. School choice programs enable students to access education options and inspire public schools to attract and retain students and families.

Myth + Fact

Myth.

Education freedom only benefits wealthy families.

Opponents claim that only well-to-do parents are capable of researching and applying for a school choice option.

Fact.

School choice program eligibility has expanded recently, but historically programs have served the families with the highest need.

For over three decades, the education freedom movement has focused on helping the families who need the most help by empowering families with incomes that don’t allow them to move to a better district or to pay private school tuition.
