Too many individuals are deprived of their freedoms and ability to engage in commerce because of burdensome, unnecessary regulations. While we all want basic regulations that protect against harm and abuse, many regulations do not do this, but instead stifle competition needlessly, create costly red tape, reduce options for workers and consumers, and serve to enrich the politically-connected. On a regular basis, policymakers and agencies should review all regulations and eliminate those that prove to be outdated, ineffective, or harmful.
