Numerous state and federal laws prohibit unfair sex discrimination in employment, education, athletics, housing, the granting of credit, and many other aspects of life. Today, women who have been discriminated against have the law on their side and are able to seek redress through the civil justice system. Even when treated equally, however, outcomes are not always the same for males and females. That is because males and females often make different life choices. While statistics can sometimes suggest the existence of sex discrimination, they are not dispositive. In many instances such statistics reflect biological differences and/or social choices.
