Kim Russell is an Independent Women’s Forum ambassador. Russell formerly was the head women’s lacrosse coach at Oberlin College, where she combined her 27 years of coaching experience with a compassionate leadership style that won her the title of “hippie love coach” from her athletes. After she openly supported female-only sports on Instagram, however, Oberlin’s administration subjected her to a series of disciplinary hearings in which she was told to apologize for her pro-woman beliefs. Shortly after Russell shared her story in the exclusive IWF documentary “Burned at the Stake,” she was terminated from her position as head coach, banned from talking with student-athletes, and reassigned to a newly created position. Russell refused to recant and now continues advocating for women and for equal opportunity and fairness in women’s sports as an ambassador at IWF.
