The federal government has announced it will begin regulating the salt you consume. That means the foods you enjoy will soon taste differently—likely worse—as food manufacturers are forced to change recipes to comply with new salt regulations.
Food manufacturers already provide consumers with low and no-salt food options. Moreover, research on the health effects is mixed, and there are certainly numerous consumers for whom salt provides no risk. Government regulations are unlikely to improve health, but will limit consumer choice and make all of our food taste bland.
