“In 2000 my career took a turn into captioning and I left the reporting field. I enjoyed helping consumers who were late-deafened, deaf, or hard-of-hearing being able to attend and participate in meetings. Not everyone who has hearing difficulties use/know sign language and captioning is their means of communication. Being able to have ICs who want to work different times of the day and night and weekends is huge to the success of these businesses AND the deaf/hoh community. Every worker should have the right to choose if they want to be an employee or an IC. America is about freedom and choices and the concept that one size fits all does not fit in the USA.”
