Being a female athlete means fighting against history. It means fighting for your kind. It means working to be strong against the odds of oppression. It means getting up even when others punch you.

When I was in school, I was elbowed in the face by a young man who didn’t like that I was faster than him. I kept running and left the haters behind.

We cannot let those who belittle us force their way into society, especially not with our entire womanhood of sports at stake. We have worked too hard to gain these rights. We must keep them!
