“I started my business in 2012 to supplement my income. As time went on, people I worked for kept retiring or lowering my hours. It got more difficult to keep looking for work—so I decided to make my business my full-time job. It also makes it easier now that I am having to take care of my aging mother as well. I have been fully self-employed since February 2020 and am loving that I am independent of dealing with employers and being discriminated against due to my age. This way, I am my own boss and my clients know that I am dependent and reliable.”
